Design duo Gerist, Fridgerdur Gudmundsdottir and Kristin Birna Bjarnadottir, product designers, won first prize at the Reykjavík Souvenir Design Competition held by the city and the Icelandic Design Center in 2010 with the products Reykjavik Towel and The Reykjavik Soap.

Now that the products have been launched the design duo commissioned concept artist Kitty Von-Sometime to produce a performance based video piece utilizing the visual forms of the two products to screen at DesignMarch held in Reykjavik 24th-27th of March 2011. Kitty chose to use similar principles as she does in her ongoing work The Weird Girls Project – focusing on using multiple women to form geometric patterns and also using real women's shapes rather than a uniform model look. The Project has been gaining substantial international recognition with the previous piece being commissioned by UNIFEM/UN Women and the next for Imogen Heap's Love the Earth project.

The Reykjavík Products will long wrap the users in memories of Iceland and its wondrous geothermal water.
